Firstly I should say a belated Happy New Year! I can't believe that we are already in February and I have neglected to write a post. My main excuse is the birth of my amazing (and exceptionally beautiful - no fatherly bias there) daughter Norah Grace on December 30, three weeks earlier than expected. This was fortuitous as I had to fly back to Dublin for OTC's Die Zauberflote tour shortly after.

I am currently in a hotel room in Limerick resting up before another performance tomorrow. The show has been well-received by the audience and critics (nominated for several Irish theatre awards), and has been a hugely enjoyable production. When my contract in Ireland ends I will be off to Australia for a long-overdue family reunion.

After that I will return to Europe, where I will be performing as Beadle Bamford to Sir Thomas Allen's Sweeney Todd (Sondheim) in Munich with the Bayerische Rundfunk Orchester (for whom I recorded Trouble in Tahiti four years ago) under the brilliant maestro Ulf Schirmer. I will then head back to Opera North for another exciting project (details will be announced as permitted).
